Tracy Chamber of Commerce Liaison

Evelyn Proposes "Job Shadowing"
During Evelyn's service as a member of the Tracy Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, she proposed a "job shadowing" program, which was adopted by the Chamber. This program initially began with students being interviewed and selected to spend a day with various City of Tracy officials. During the first year of the program, students were coupled with the Mayor, City Manager, Police Chief, Fire Chief, other Department Heads, and management level staff. This first year was a resounding success! In the next few years the program was expanded to include students being assigned to leaders in the business industry. The current configuration of Evelyn's "job shadowing" proposal has the Tracy program coinciding with the nationwide Ground Hog Job Shadowing Program, which is operated under the Tracy Industry Education partnership (TIEP) arm of the Tracy Chamber of Commerce.

Evelyn Proposes "Buy Tracy" Program
The Tracy Chamber of Commerce adopted and implemented a proposal made by Tolbert during her service as a Chamber of Commerce Director. The proposal was to begin a concerted, business-community supported ìbuy Tracyî campaign to encourage customers and clients to utilize Tracy-based businesses.

The program was begun by the Tracy Chamber of Commerce under the title ìShop Where You Live $ Buy Localî and includes the distribution of a Tracy map showing the location of businesses throughout our City. The program is co-sponsored by the Downtown Business Improvement Association, West Valley Mall, and Prime Outlets.

Tolbert is Council–Chamber Liaison
Since being elected to the Tracy City Council, Evelyn Tolbert has continued to serve the business community of Tracy through her work as the official Council–Chamber Liaison. As the Liaison, Evelyn meets regularly with the Chamber Director and Chair of the Chamber Board of Directors. The discussion centers on how the City of Tracy can work closely with the Chamber of Commerce to insure that there is a healthful, attractive environment for business in Tracy. Supportive activities and programs are also discussed in this venue with recommendations being made to the full City Council for approval and funding. Evelyn Tolbert continues to be focused on the good that a viable economic development environment does for our city as a whole.
